Fascinating Fanart: Gambit

Image
You know what I love about Gambit?  Everything.  I think it's probably his attitude that draws people in though.  He's consistently having a blast or at least finding whatever humor there may be to find in any situation.  Got that constant laid-back thing going.  Also, how many comic characters have a thick Cajun accent?  How many grew up in a thieves' guild?  He's got that good guy/bad guy thing that Catwoman has.  Maybe he'll help you out, but if it doesn't benefit him, maybe he won't. Did I mention that he can make things explode with his mind?  Okay, so he transfers energy into inanimate objects and then they explode, but still .  His name is Remy Lebeau, a lovely New Orleans-style name; his code name is Gambit, which is perfect for a master thief and his nickname is the Ragin' Cajun.  Oh, yeah, and he totally landed Rogue.  So, you know...yay, Gambit! Fascinating Fanart: She-Hulk!

Image
You remember that ' Incredible Hulk ' show with Lou Ferrigno ?  You can thank them for giving us She-Hulk.  I'm serious!  The network was so pleased with the ratings 'Hulk' was getting, that they wanted to create a female spin-off.  The project didn't pan out and Marvel hurriedly created their own female Hulk, thus giving them exclusive rights.   Jennifer Walters is the cousin of the Incredible Hulk, Bruce Banner, as well as an excellent attorney. After being mortally wounded, the only way Bruce could save her was by giving her an emergency blood transfusion.  Of course the Hulk has gamma-radiated blood, so....She-Hulk!  You'll notice in most of these depictions of her, she's either full-on smiling, or she's got that little knowing smirk.  'Cause she knows she's got you beat. Fascinating Fanart: Psylocke

Image
Yay!  Psylocke!  I've been waiting for sooooo long for her to be in an X-Men movie!  And no, that five-second role in 'Last Stand' does not count.  Not by a mile.  Not only is she finally in her getup-which looks like she stepped out of the comics (see below), but we finally get to see her use a sword and Psi-Bolts (you'll see...)!  You'll notice in the fan art that sometimes she looks Asian and sometimes she doesn't.  That's because during her comic run, she had two bodies-one British and one Asian because crazy shit happens in comics!  They could dedicate an entire movie to her and we still wouldn't scratch the surface of her story so far.  So here she is in (most of) her comic forms: Psylocke by pushfighter

Fascinating Fanart: 80s Storm!

Image
This is my favorite incarnation of Storm.  I love that whole covered-in-white-capes thing she did in the 90's, but not like the mohawk.  There's just something more daring about a mohawk.  Not everyone has the guts (or the face-shape) to pull it off.  When Chris Claremont turned in his design for this version of the character in the 80's, it was meant as a joke-at first.  People loved it and her character was going through some changes, so it stuck.  I think it's the most bold and memorable look on any of the X-Men yet.  I have some other favorites that we'll get to one day. Fascinating Fanart: Comic Book Couples!

Image
This week we are celebrating comic book couples for no reason at all!  Some of these are really popular couples while some of them are just my own favorites.  I make no apologies.  If you don't see your favorite couple, let me know in the comments and I'll add them to my next superhero couple post.  Maybe we can think of some more villain couples?  The future is so hard to see. Fascinating Fanart: Daredevil

Image
The latest (second) season of Daredevil on Netflix kind of overshadowed the show's namesake.  Or at least, that's what everyone keeps telling me.  It still read as a Devil of Hell's Kitchen story to me.  In any case, I thought we'd bring the spotlight firmly to him this week.  So as we don't all forget his badass-ness and such.  So, here's some blind lawyer art...kind of: Daredevil by erlanarya

Fascinating Fanart: Elektra

Image
Have you caught up on Netflix's Daredevil ?  Did you like their version of Elektra? It was very difficult it was to find non-comic covers that didn't primarily feature Elektra's ass and/or nipples.  Don't get me wrong, she's got the goods, but she's also a crazy ninja assassin, so I kind of wanted to feature that instead of just how revealing her costume is.  With the exception of 2 or 3 really well-done compositions, I think the mission was accomplished! Fascinating Fanart: Deadpool!

Image
For whatever reason, Deadpool has fans across all the demographics.  The art below will back me up on that.  Here's a little backstory on Wade Wilson:  He was originally created as a spoof of the DC character Deathstroke   (aka Slade Wilson-eh...eh?).  Although his trademark smart mouth didn't show up until a little after his creation, he quickly evolved into something more than a parody and gained a ton of fans in the process.  I hope his movie is genius and we get 12 more.  Chimichangas, bitches! --Overhanging-- by wyv1

Fascinating Fanart: Genderswap!

Image
Oh, man...I had so much fun putting this one together.  It's kind of ridiculous how much gender-swap art there is out there and I had to stop myself.  Do I just do one subject?  Hell, no!  Let's do *everything*!  So, I just grabbed what I'm a fan of and tried to find some genderbent female characters (for some reason people love turning dudes in to chicks waaaay more).  Anywho, enjoy!
