Fascinating Fanart: The 10th Doctor

Image
I can't believe I haven't done a Doctor Who fan art appreciation yet!  What is wrong with me??  Everyone has their favorite Doctor, right?  Mine's the Tenth Doctor.  Twelve is really giving him a run for his money, but Ten still holds that special place.  Doctor Who is one of those things...you either know about this whole subculture, or you've never had the opportunity to be enraptured by it.  Whovians, man.  They're good people. Fascinating Fanart: The Fifth Element

Image
Let's do some sci-fi this week!  Has there ever been a more perfectly awesome flick than The Fifth Element ?  If you're a sci-fi nerd, you swear by it.  You've said, "You haven't  seen the Fifth Element?!" at least once in your lifetime...and for good reason.  It's got it all...Bruce Willis in his sci-fi heyday, a singing blue alien, Chris Tucker in (kind-of) drag and Gary Oldman doing what he does best.  Let's also not forget the pumpkin-orange-maned heroine who runs around (seemingly-comfortably) half-naked for most of the film.  In all seriousness, what's not to like? Fascinating Fanart: The Last Unicorn

Image
I don't think I know anyone who hasn't either read the book or seen the beloved 80s children's film, The Last Unicorn .  It's an epic tale of fantasy and heroism with a dash of magic (Who am I kidding?  It's more like a waterfall).  There's a reason it's a cult classic and its following is still going strong.  It's a romantic adventure that has actual three-dimensional characters!  Enjoy these beautiful depictions of those very characters: Lady Amalthea by mayan-art

Fascinating Fanart: Breaking Bad

Image
When this came out in 2008, no one would shut up about it.  "Dude-you have to watch Breaking Bad it's Sooooooo good."  If you're like me at all and you hear these words over and over and over, you tend to think 'You know what?  It can't be that good.  I won't be pressured!  I watch what the hell I want to watch because of freedom of choice and whatnot!!'  And you put it off out of pure stubbornness. Then, one day, you decide to try one episode just to find out what's up.  BAM!!  A week goes by and you're glued to the TV because you've just finished season two but, damn!  You have to do things like work and live and such.  If it hasn't happened to you yet, it's only a matter of time. Fascinating Fanart: The Boondock Saints

Image
You know the type of movie that you can watch over and over and it doesn't really matter if you can say every line because it just never gets old?  That's The Boondock Saints for me.  Has been since the very first time I saw it.  The amount of people I've introduced to this story is bordering ridiculous.  The only thing I'm disappointed about is that there isn't more Rocco or Paul Smecker fan art out there....yet.  I guess you could maybe call it one of my favorites.  Or whatever.  It's not really a big deal. veritas et aequitas by AkiMao

Fascinating Fanart: Kill Bill

Image
In honor of Quentin Tarantino's newest outing, The Hateful Eight , I thought we'd celebrate the excessively violent Kill Bill series.  People tend to love or hate his movies and I, for one, have always been a fan.  From the time-lapsing/jumping to the over-the-top gore and all of those really full-of-banter monologues, his work is one-of-a-kind and I'll watch damn near anything with his name attached.
