Zombie comedies are becoming a more popular thing, so I thought I'd share some of my favorites from this fascinating sub-genre. I also decided to list them from oldest to newest. ::shrugs:: I have a really hard time comparing things that are nuanced. Maybe we'll get some more good ones soon!

Do you love slapstick, sarcasm and the sequel/reboots? Good. There's also zombies. And Bruce Campbell's chin. So, you know...all the good stuff.
Cannibalistic Humanoid Undergroud Dweller. Or, that's what we thought it meant for most of the first movie...which was primarily horror. The second movie actually features zombies, comedy, and some really excellent make-up.
Now, some people can't see past low production values-and if so, that's fine. Independent films are not your bag. If you can put that aside, though, this is one of the bloodiest movies to ever made and I say that with glee. It's the kind of spatter film you can laugh at. Also, there's a love story!
This ridiculous 90's movie is a tale of true love and life and death. Not particularly in that order. It's as cheesy as can be and frequently laughs at itself and we all love a good self-aware movie, right?
Even though this movie is primarily about a possessed hand, it heavily features some great zombie characters and some horror-comedy tropes at their best. If you haven't seen it, you should check it out.
You knew this was going to be here; it's probably the most popular movie of its genre to date. There are many brilliant reasons for that and that's why it's so consistently well-known.
This German diamond in the rough takes some goth kids, gives them some voodoo and then lets us follow around the 'nerds' they've turned into zombies. I'm not gonna lie, it was waaay over-the-top but it was still a riot.
This little piece of Irish comedy is an "I can bring you back with voodoo" take on zombies. Boy likes girl, girl likes boy, neither know and boy kills himself. Mother resurrects him and shenanigans ensue. It's not a masterpiece, but it was absolutely fun!
This alternate-history take on the zombie genre has long been a favorite that I've recommended to friends and customers alike (I worked at a couple places that sold DVDs-big surprise!). If you want something a little quirkier than your average fare, definitely give this a go.
I shit you not: zombie sheep. I went into this with my expectations at a low simmer and was rewarded with a sharp dark comedy that isn't afraid to go where it needs to. I thoroughly enjoyed this.
If you happened to miss this grindhouse-on-purpose-style offering from Robert Rodriguez, well, you either don't love the genre or you missed out. It's got amazing special effects and a really stacked cast!
I was so thrilled I decided to try this out. It ended up being so much better than I expected, but then, I'm a fan of that whole 'teen film' category, too. You know-like Ferris Bueller or Can't Hardly Wait. Now, think of the setting and the humor from movies like that and add zombies. Voila!
This is here because someone decided to make a movie about strippers that get turned into zombies. You just have to respect that. This movie definitely has nudity and some pretty gruesome gore, but it's still hilarious in all the ways you think it will be.
Zombieland is just genius. The matter-of-fact approach to the Zom-pocalypse is still very refreshing. You know: here's all the rules-follow them and survive. Whoops! He didn't follow them and he's dead now...good times.
While the whole story is not entirely devoted to zombies, its whip-smart humor and gory goodness (as well as the zombie scenes it does have) make it a must-add on this list!
This is actually a Romeo-and-Juliet take on zombies. Did you know that? Now you have to decide if you think that's neat or stupid. That right there will tell you whether or not to watch this one. It's an intense and amusing little thing.
So, she's a coherent zombie who takes on the personalities of the people whose brains she eats. She also helps the police solve murders by pretending to be psychic, while really, she's just having visions as a side-effect of brain-eating. I promise that the humor is worth it.
This one was much more in the 'weird' category than a lot of the others on this list. It goes back and forth between riotous moments of hilarity and deep-thinking. So, it definitely stands out. That said, you should watch it for the actors alone. Such talent.
Teachers vs. zombie children. Yeah. All the teachers are played by known-comedic actors and you can expect them to bing exactly what you think they will to the story. Ridiculous and fun...and pretty gross, too.
The cast alone makes this a comedy worth seeing. With character actors like Keegan-Michael Key, Patton Oswalt and Bob Odenkirk, we're already off to a really great start. Add in the crazy plotline of a world where vampires and zombies exist and go to school with humans and you've got a 'kitchen sink' of awesome. So while this is a mishmash and not only a zombie comedy, there are plenty of zombies and plenty of comedy. I say it fits.
This one pits a small team of teenage Boy Scouts (and a stripper-yay!) against a horde of zombies. This made the list for several reasons: 1. Boy Scouts-nice. 2. Actual characters with believable issues that aren't just about zombies. 3. That trampoline scene-HA!
I realize this will not be everyone's cup of tea. If you're into both zombies and regency-era manners, give it a shot. The production value and actors were stellar. It's not laugh-out-loud funny, but rather a completely silly premise that requires a certain sense of humor to enjoy.
Did you like the movie Fido? It's silliness is a little similar to that. It's obvious humor that expects you to be clever enough to laugh at it. Barrymore and Olyphant are gold together!
